I have been feeling the Holy Spirit lay it on my heart lately to write this. Maybe it is for you. 🤍💫
What do I mean, “be saved”?
Being saved means accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and being given eternal life in heaven rather than hell. Many don’t want to talk or think about hell, let alone believe it exists. Now bringing up hell is said to “just be a scare tactic” to get people to believe in God. Hell is a real place, it’s not a scare tactic, it’s just a fact. Everyone can choose where they will spend eternity, and that is in heaven or hell, based on their belief in Jesus. Talking about hell is so taboo nowadays. Most people won’t even listen if you bring it up. They brush it off as this ridiculous idea. Nobody seems to want to believe the truth of the Bible anymore.
Heaven is just as real as hell. And they’re both just as real as the earth you live on right now. If you’d like to learn more about Heaven, I’d recommend checking out “Imagine Heaven” by John Burke, and “Heaven” by Randy Alcorn. Reading “Imagine Heaven” completely changed my life. I can’t recommend it enough. Heaven used to feel so vague and distant but after reading it, I feel like I understand it so much more and can picture it as the real place it is. I’m only part way through the second book I mentioned but it is also good. And then you can do a search online for Bible verses about Heaven. The Bible is the ultimate source of Truth. But these books use countless Bible references.
Once you understand that you want to spend your eternity in Heaven, you might ask how do I know for sure I will get there? That’s where the “being saved” reference comes to play. Being saved is the most simple and easy thing you can do. Believe with a child-like faith. That is it! The reason I say “child-like” is because children believe when told, they don’t need proof, they trust. Believing in Jesus needs trust because spiritual things cannot be seen with the eye, but felt within your spirit. God will reveal Himself to you in many ways if you ask but He does not come to you in person as another human does. We will meet Him one wonderful day in Heaven.
Pray to Jesus and say something like this: I truly believe in my heart that Jesus came to earth, died for my sins, and rose from the grave on the third day, and I accept Him as Lord of my life.
Pray it in your own words if you like, there’s no magic formula. If you believe that Jesus is who He says He is, you are saved and will be spending your eternity in Heaven. (Romans 10:9) Salvation is a free gift, there is nothing YOU can do to earn it or keep it, it is all about what HE did on the cross. (Ephesians 2:8-9) You just need to accept the free gift. You can’t lose it if you mess up and sin. (John 10:28) We all mess up and sin. There’s a lot of people now saying you can lose your salvation but it’s just incorrect. You are saved if you believe, and that’s all it takes. God loves YOU, you who are reading this, so much, He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross to pay for the sins of all who will believe so that they can have eternal life in Heaven. (John 3:16) Just pray and tell Him you believe and you are saved.

A few more thoughts to share...
As I’m writing this on July 29, 2020, we are still in the Church Age, the Age of Grace, where you can be saved the way I have described to you. There will come a day, one day, that believers who are saved will be raptured. (Removed from earth and taken to heaven by God without ever dying.) This is talked about in 1 Thessalonians 4:15-18 and the book of Revelation, as well as other places. We don’t know when this will happen, only God does. But I feel that I need to mention it because once the rapture does occur and millions have disappeared (raptured to Heaven), becoming saved will look a bit different. Maybe one day in the future someone will come across this post who needs to know this. How do you get saved after the rapture? You believe in Jesus as described above AS WELL as declining to receive what Revelation describes as the mark of the beast. A mark that will be put on your hand or forehead which will be necessary to be able to buy or sell and will signify that you follow the anti-Christ. If you accept it you will unfortunately be then signed up for eternity in hell, for lack of better words. If you reject it you will very likely be killed for your faith, but will be in Heaven for eternity. It will be an awful time to live in. That’s why you should accept Jesus now and not wait. I’ve learned a lot about Bible prophecy lately, but rather than unloading a lot more information here, I’ll give you some amazing resources if you are interested in learning more. People may think that all of that won’t ever happen, especially not while they are alive, but it will happen and it has to happen when someone is alive. If you believe the Bible, you believe Bible prophecy. Either the whole Bible is true, or the whole Bible is false. I believe it’s true.
